Kunzler IP becomes a proud sponsor of the Concept-to-Company contest organized and hosted by Grow Utah Ventures and Zions Bank.  The “Concept to Company” competitions are ongoing innovation contests held in various regions across the state of Utah. The main objectives of the contests are to encourage and support Utah’s entrepreneurial innovators with the intent of helping them turn their concepts into a company. Each competition focuses on the unique entrepreneurial strengths of that particular region. To date, the Concept to Company contests have distributed more than $430,000 in prize money/services and helped over 28 companies bring their business idea to fruition.

Scott Thorpe presented a seminar on Profiting from Intellectual Property at the Small Business Development Center at UVU.  Mr. Thorpe discussed raising business valuations with IP, IP-based asset protection strategies, tax shifting, and licensing.

Scott Thorpe presented a seminar on Valuing Intellectual Property at the Small Business Development Center.  Mr. Thorpe discussed six common strategies for valuing patents and other intellectual property, along with the strengths and weaknesses of each.

Scott Thorpe presented a seminar on protecting intellectual property at the Small Business Development Center.  The course covered deciding when to patent an invention and when to disclose or keep secret the invention secret, provisional patents, trademarks, NDAs, and copyrights.
